Mozart Requiem Concert at St Mary's Church, Maldon


St Mary's choir is performing Mozart's Requiem, along with a specially composed setting of the Pie Jesu by James Davy (Director of Music at Chelmsford Cathedral) at 7.30pm on Saturday 12th November to raise money for the Italian Red Cross, who are handling the relief efforts.

Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome, the most intact remaining WW1 aerodrome in Europe, held a celebratory weekend of events in commemoration of the centenary first operational flight to take place at the site.


Maldon Art Trail - Young People's Art Competition

Organised by Lynn Marston, this year's judges had a wide range of local scenes to choose enjoy from in three different age categories. The quality of the submissions was very high with the Judges (pictured) having no small challenge to pick the final prize winners.


New Hall Wines Festival 2016

The Mayor and Mayoress were pleased to open this year's two day Festival amid a host of craft stalls and fascinating entertainers including the Thameside Mummers and the impossibly talented 'Stone balancer'. The Festival, now in it's 40th year was a real showcase for the fine local wines produced there, clearly being enjoyed by the large number of visitors.


D'Arcy Day Lecture a Huge Success


D'Arcy Day Lecture

Cllr Richard Miller and Cllr Stephen Nunn were the invited speakers at this year's D'Arcy Day lecture where the subject was 'Maldon’s Civic Heritage – The Mayor, the Mace and the Regalia'. An appreciative audience which included Lord Petre heard a comprehensive account of the history and function of the Mayor, Moot Hall and the articles associated with that office.


Summer 2016


The Summer is now receding away from us and it continued to be a busy period for the Maldon Mayor, Mayoress and his Deputy. Cllr Miller said "It is hugely encouraging that the people of Maldon hold the Office of Mayor in such high esteem, the first four months have seen over 100 invitations to attend a an amazing range of events to give support to really worthwhile activities taking place on in our area. It is a huge privilege to lend my support"

Contributors were delighted to welcome our Mayor, Cllr Richard Miller to the Maeldune Heritage Centre on Friday 5th August , to open our stunning new Art Exhibition!


Heybridge Community Festival


The Town Mayor at the invitation of the Chairman of Heybridge Parish Council attended the opening of the Festival on 31st July, which was bathed in sunshine with a wide range of stalls and events taking place throughout the day. The Deuty Mayor and consort later joined in listening to a two hour set of blues and rock music to conclude what was an excellent day.
