The Maldon Carnival Association proudly introduce the new carnival Court. Queen Kheira Cottrill and Princess Kaitlyn Cottrill. It was a great pleasure for me to interview two such excellent and enthusiastic candidates last week. Look out for them on Carnival day, the 6th August .

May I first thank the Members of this Council for their confidence in electing me Town Mayor, the 207th in fact.

I am conscious of the duties and responsibilities annexed to the role and the honour bestowed upon me. I will endeavour to uphold the dignity and respect the office enjoys in the town and indeed beyond.

HM The Queens 90 Birthday Commemorative Medals

A total of 220 commemorative medals celebrating HM The Queens 90 birthday were distributed to Year 6 Children at all five primary schools in Maldon on Friday. The recipients were - All Saints Primary School, Maldon Court School, Wentworth School, Maldon Primary School and St Francis School. This is part of an initiative by The Mayor of Burnham Cllr Ron Pratt and District Chairman Cllr Peter Elliott and I thought it was a lovely idea and wanted to be involved so I agreed to fund this locally.

Maldon's 14th Beer and Cider Festival

Maldon Beer & Cider Festival

Well the Maldon's 14th Beer and Cider Festival finally arrived last week and it was great to see an image from the Maldon Embroidery promoting this year's festival. The Embroidery of course was created in 1991 to celebrate the 1000th anniversary of the Battle of Maldon and is currently on display at The Maeldune Centre - I recommend a visit!

The next Annual Town Meeting on Tuesday 19th April

I have been the 206th Mayor of Maldon now for just over 10 months and I am still enjoying the role immensely and fully intend to be as active in the community as I can up to the very last day. I have tried to raise awareness of what Maldon Town Council does and how we function. I have endeavoured to be as visible as I can and to promote Maldon and all it has to offer at every opportunity and I have been very privileged to meet so many people who work hard to care about others.

The Mayor’s ‘Royal Connection’s' evening was a great event and the last of my official charity functions for my year. The evening was presented by Past Mayor Cllr Stephen P NUNN and Past District Council Chairman Mr Robert LONG.
