Maldon Carnival

Maldon CarnivalMaldon’s annual summer Carnival has been a fixture in the town for over a hundred years and is believed to be one of the biggest in the area. The carnival, held each year on the first Saturday of August begins on Fambridge road before proceeding through Maldon High Street and then finishing at the Promenade Park, where more entertainment awaits visitors.

A selection dance is held each year to select the Carnival Queen and Princesses (Court).  The court is crowned on the Sunday before Carnival day. This year's crowning will take place on Sunday 1st August at 3pm in the Promenade Park.  Thousands of spectators gather from Maldon and surrounding areas to watch the procession of various floats and entertainment, including majorettes and marching bands.

The Maldon Carnival sees the whole community pull together to put on this spectacular event, which raises money for local charities and good causes.  Support from local businesses and residents enables this wonderful tradition to return each year.

The first ever Winter Parade took place in 2008 and the event doubled in size in 2009.  The annual Winter Parade takes place on the last Saturday in November.

The 2011 Summer Carnival took place on Saturday 6th August, with a procession beginning from Cross Roads, through the High Street and finishing at the Promenade Park where more entertainment awaited visitors.
