Junior Rangers Club

In October 2008 Maldon district council launched a new exciting Junior Rangers Club. The club is for children in the district, aged 7-12 years, who want to get involved in park activities and events. The events are a great way to learn about parks and have fun! Memberships of this club is free, (each member is placed into the Hare, Squirrel or Owl team), and members receive regular newsletters and updates

So far they have been having great fun learning about trees, leaves and berries, scavenger hunt, bird watching, orienteering, and worm surveys!

Moat Housing - Charter House murals

Students from Maldon Primary School, the Plume School and the local integrated supported services school, which offers education for excluded children , have created the murals to brighten up the Charter House development site in Wantz Road during constructing .

The theme of the three murals was ‘Maldon in Bloom’ and they were entered into the annual Maldon in Bloom competition. On Wednesday 6th may, 2009. Local residents and students gathered at the Charter House development site on Wantz Road in Maldon for the unveiling of the three murals on the hoarding erected around the site. The students were delighted that the project won ‘best school project’ in the 2009 Maldon in Bloom competition

The Charter House site is an environmentally friendly new build scheme, located just off Maldon High Street. The development compromises twenty two apartments within two blocks. Moat is offering 10 of these apartments to local first time buyers on a new build home buy shared ownership basis and the remaining twelve for affordable rent. The new homes will be ready for occupation in September 2009. Until then, anyone passing the scheme will be able to enjoy the students unique art work. The unveiling of the murals marks the beginning of a programme of community events at the Wantz Road development.
